Rock climbing: for and at every level!
Tourists looking for verticality, this land is your Eldorado! In recent decades, France has become a rock climber's paradise and the Pays du Mont-Blanc contributed to this adventure from the outset. Great rock routes, cliffs, artificial walls... everything to let professionals and amateurs go to their limits in the sport they prefer!
You want to try verticality? Head for the Pays du Mont-Blanc! Here, you have all the rocks you need to progress at your own rate and expert guides to learn from. Start on the artificial walls in climbing schools like Les Gaillands in Chamonix and La Duchère in Les Contamines. Then move on to the many well-equipped, easy to walk to classic routes like Chéserys, Posette or Vallorcine cliffs on different rocks - granite, sandstone and limestone. Little by little you will feel the urge to attack the routes legends are made of, probably beginning with Les Aiguilles de Chamonix, then l'envers des Aiguilles or more secret areas above the glaciers, with the possibility of overnights in the refuges. Once you know what you're doing, and fit, you will be ready to try the "great" routes. That is when, in mythical spots like the Charmoz-Grépon traverse and l'Arête du Moine, the mountain will pay back your investment with a dividend of thrills directly proportional to your efforts.
