Shelter from boredom! Get off the beaten tracks!
Sallanches, Chamonix, Megève... ideal bad weather spots for young and old alike for shopping, restaurants, cinemas or quite simply urban strolls to explore mountain towns and the many cultural opportunities too!
The small towns and pretty villages in the Pays du Mont-Blanc are brimful of good ideas for things to do including cinemas, and cultural, sporting, shopping and artistic activities... the word "boredom" is not in the local vocabulary. The Mountain Nature Centre in the Château des Rubins in Sallanches, the Alpine Museum in Chamonix, the Mountain Pasture House in Servoz, the art galleries, the busy streets, good restaurants, concerts... all these ideas are united under the banner of mountain culture discovery - and good humour. And you can also burn off your surplus energy in the swimming pools, skating rinks and climbing centres. Indoor activities are an integral part of winter sports holidays. Other ideas include visiting Switzerland by train. The mountain railway from Saint Gervais to Martigny is an exceptional outing to the Gianadda Foundation, a major art museum. And if you really cannot get by without your car, why not visit Geneva, Aoste or Annecy?
Life goes on being beautiful even if the weather is bad!
