Views and glaciers: absolute beauty 360° around you

Traverse the Pays and you will be struck by how many different views there are over the Mont-Blanc. Wherever you stop, you will feel the same thrill when you see the domes, snow filled corridors and unclimbed rock faces. All around, the valleys, needles and glaciers draw colourful, constantly-changing alternatives to the immutable white magic of the Roof of Europe.

The Views from Combloux, Saint Nicolas de Véroce, Plaine-Joux, the Col des Montets or Sallanches are all magical. The first Alpine painters were largely inspired by this panoramic vision of the mountains. And if you want to approach this universe, you might as well get as close as possible. You don't need to be a mountaineer to go up the Aiguille du Midi for panoramic views over the whole Mont-Blanc range. Further down the mountain, the Montenvers train and the Mont-Blanc Tramway take you up to the big glaciers. The blue ice ridges, the cracking ice blocks, the glacier lakes and the crevasses yawning like wounds in the back of the glacier will print feelings as wild and powerful as this rebellious, untamed - yet so fragile - nature in your memory! This land is fantastic in the true meaning of the word. Add winter or autumn light, sunsets and seas of cloud and you run a serious risk of becoming addicted! And if you like walking and climbing you will discover amazing worlds in which every path and every turn is worth taking. Every time, you will discover another, inevitably sublime, landscape!
